Seeking a well-deserved break from your latest misadventures, you treat yourself to the extravagant luxury of the most talked about train of our time - the legendary Orient Express. Unexpectedly, and rather unfortunately, the holiday turns out to be extremely short-lived. The train has barely left Paris when word spreads that someone has just been murdered...
As the "Mystery Express" hurtles toward its final destination of Istanbul, passengers spin a web of intrigue and deception through rumor, gossip and innuendo. Your mind races as you consider the possible suspects and their motives. Will you uncover the culprit before reaching the end of your journey?
Mystery Express is a new whodunit deduction game set aboard the Orient Express. Clues to the murder are made up of 5 different crime elements - Motive, Location, Modus Operandi, Suspects and Time - each represented by a set of Crime cards. At the beginning of the journey a card from each set is hidden under the board. You must then try to deduce all 5 elements of the crime before the train reaches it's final destination.
Beginning in Paris, the Mystery Express makes stops at 5 cities - Strasbourg, München, Wien (Vienna), Budapest, and finally Istanbul. The length of each leg of the journey varies, so depending on the location of the train, players have only so much time to move about the train, speak with fellow travelers and undertake specific actions as part of their investigation.
Clues can be found in any number of places on board the train - Club Car, Dining Car, Lounge Car, Passenger Car, Sleeping Car and Smoking Car. Each car enables different types of investigative actions.
Other events occurring during the journey will provide even more clues - new passengers with additional information come aboard in Strasbourg and Wien, while the train disappears into a long dark tunnel near München (Munich) giving players a chance to peek into their neighbor's hands.
